Last night I had the privilege to experience the newly renovated Pappas On The Square Restaurant at Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton. #PappasRefined indeed!
This eatery is an establishment in Sandton, with it’s doors first opening in the 1987 – yes, Pappas on the Square just celebrated it’s 30th Birthday! It was time for Pappas to get a make-over, and it is looking beautiful.
A new bar as well as a semi-private dining room were added, and the rich element of plated copper adds beautiful warmth and sophistication.
Reisdesign from Linden used a Mediterranean colour pallet of cobalt blues and ash wood with splashes of copper in their conceptualisation. and searched across South Africa selecting elements from the team at Dokter and Missus as well as the wood whisperer himself David Krynauw in Joburg.
New menu items were also incorporated to fit in with this brand new look. The foods are divided in small and medium plates with meze and appetizers, and also still includes Pappas’ Famous Steaks and fish dishes.
We had the opportunity to try a variety of the menu items, so here we go, let me show you what you can look forward to:
And, to add to the festive mood, I just HAVE to mention the entertainment! Mice and Nico Eroses kept our feet tapping from the moment we walked in – they did a brilliant cover of “Misirlou” (Pulp Fiction theme song) and a variety of traditional and popular Greek-inspired music.
When the energetic Spasta Ola Dancers took to the ‘stage’ EVERYONE got on their feet. They even managed to teach a few Pappas patrons some impressive Greek dance steps. Fabulous fun!
I was really impressed with the food, the beautiful decor and the fun vibe at Pappas. And you guys MUST go check out their menu! The ideal restaurant for a spot of lunch with colleagues or an intimate dinner. Thank you so much for hosting me, it was fab! I’m definitely coming back for cocktails and a few small plates! Opa!
