Chillin’ at Churchills

Our first introduction to Churchills was a good couple of months ago, when we attended a whisky tasting evening at this venue.

The first thing you notice when you walk in, is the luxurious decor – and the fact that the ambience is in stark contrast to the bright and shiny Melrose Arch Mall – where the main entrance of Churchills is located.

My first impression then was:  “Oh wow”!

Churchills is simply beautiful – it reminds you of the study that your oh-so-very-English uncle used to have (and what I actually still want!), with heavy leather couches and long bookshelves lining the walls.

And there are actually real books on the shelves – I spotted a few interesting titles, and what would a beautiful study be without a few copies of the Encyclopedia Britannica?

So, seeing that we didn’t really have the opportunity to try some of the dishes on Churchill’s menu previously, I was thrilled when we were invited to pop in for bubbly and dinner!  Yay!   And this is how a weeknight must be spent.

The new menu features a good variety of dishes – starters, nibbles, platters, meat dishes and salads.  There aren’t pages and pages of options, but that it okay as well – I rather prefer a more condensed menu with a few quality dishes anyway.  Quality over quantity – always!

We started off trying a few starter dishes.  I just can’t resist arancini, so I HAD to try it!  In addition to the rice balls, we decided to try the jalapeno poppers as well.  I am not a fan of the burn-the-hell-out-of-you kind of poppers – but I am always eager to find a jalapeno popper that is spicy, but doesn’t numb all five your senses at once.

These little bites were so good!  Tasty and really delicious – we were actually considering just ordering another round of starters and calling it dinner!  So yes, that means that the jalapeno poppers got a big thumbs up!

But then another menu item caught our eye….  Churchills features a few platters to share on the menu and this one really tickled our fancy:

Caprese, prosciutto, warm toasted bread, grilled veggies (freshly grilled – it was still warm), with feta and olives.  Fresh and beautiful!  The ideal option for a lighter dinner to share, or even as a platter to share with after-work-drinks.

We were so impressed with the new menu at Churchills.  It shows that this is a venue that is so much more than a simply a trendy spot to grab a few drinks on the way home, the food is definitely up to scratch as well.  I can imagine that it will be great for birthday parties and year-end functions as well!

A beautiful venue where you can indulge in gorgeous eats, and an impressive collection of fine spirits and cigars, while chilling on the comfortably leather couches – absolute bliss!

I must also mention that we had excellent service, from the moment we walked in!  Thank you so much for your hospitality!
