Favourite Finds: Week 2

I thoroughly enjoyed sharing my Favourite Finds with you last week.  So much so that I am so keen to do it again, so here we go again – this is what kept me going the past week.

What I watched:

Jan (on Showmax) is truly a work of art, a visual journey of note.  It follows Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen, our very own South African born Michelin Star Chef on his adventures, exploring what inspires him.  In season 1 we explore Nice and the village of Apricale, where we meet some of the interesting characters who energizes and influence him when he needs some downtime, away from the hustle and bustle of running a world-renowned restaurant.

The newest season, season 2, was, in my opinion, a little more ‘fun’. The usually serious Chef shows a little more vulnerability, nostalgia and seems to be a little more relaxed and at ease. The absinthe episode made my giggle uncontrollably!  He takes you on a journey to his most treasured spots in France and Italy, sharing a bit more of his ‘origin’ story and the start of this astounding culinary journey.  As mentioned earlier it is visually just absolutely beautiful to watch. Get lost for a couple of hours and be reminded that with passion and hard work the world is indeed your oyster.  Yes, that last sentence is riddled with clichés  – but very true.

What I listened to:

Again I got lost in a brilliant true-crime podcast.  This is actually the very first one that got me hooked, so much so that I listened to it again last week. “Maddie” investigates the still-unsolved disappearance of  Madeleine McCann on 3 May 2007 whilst on holiday with her parents in Praia da Luz in Portugal. So intriguing and like the header states it does make you question everything you know about this well-known case.  Riveting stuff!

What I made/ate:

I just realised that I shared a ‘peanut butter’ bake last week as well!  Obviously there is a theme here. This week I baked the ‘trendy’ Peanut Butter Bread.  I don’t want to say too much about it, because you can read the story behind the story on this post.  If you try it, let me know what you think!

What is on my Wish List:

With the news that we will be moving on to Level 4 of lockdown regulations, I am still daydreaming about stuff that I’d love to have, but can’t get hold of at the moment.  Le Creuset has always been one of my favourite brands.  These beautiful, colourful casseroles and stoneware dishes will brighten up your kitchen – and in my mind, your cooking skills.
