Now You Can Have Your Granola and Eat It!

I returned from the holidays with a bit of a sybaritic hangover.  It feels as if, finally, the serious and grand feasting has caught up to me!

I guess it does have a bit to do with the inevitable “new year, new me” bandwagon, but it is as if my body craves (or do I misread it as ‘cry out for!’) more wholesome food.

We hear that breakfast (where you are, in effect, breaking the fast) is the most important meal of the day. I guess that is where I go wrong most of the time!  Always in a rush, gulping multiple mugs of coffee before 9 am, only to end up feeling totally drained and starving (read “hangry”) by 11 am. Not good.

So, I decided to try the new Canderel Granola range, to see if that satisfies my craving for the good stuff.

I’ve been using Canderel’s sweeteners for a while (as well as their sugar-free choccies), so it was quite exciting the hear that they’ve got a new offering on the market. A range of granola products with no added sugar! This range of granola is also lower in calories and carbs, and comes in three flavours; “Original”, “Four Seeds” and “Nuts & Seeds”.

I got to try the “Nuts & Seeds” and “Four Seeds”: (thank you Canderel #gifted).  The “Nuts & Seeds” was delicious with a scoop or two of vanilla yoghurt. Not too sweet, so it doesn’t taste artificially sweetened at all.  No strange aftertaste, only crunchy goodness. Granola has the reputation that people often think that it is a healthy option, while it is in fact laden with sugar.  Not in this case!

Granola can also be very versatile, and you can use it in baking, desserts and snacks!  I tried some of the “Four Seeds” as a crispy and tasty topping on peanut butter, and it was so good.  I had to stop myself from having seconds!

What makes this granola even more attractive as a healthier option, is the fact that it is vegan-friendly, low in sodium and high in fibre.  Adding up to a truly great start to any day!
