Looking for a delicious and beautiful treat to add flair to your festive table? Look no further – and it is much easier than it looks!
This is what you will need:
- 2 sheets (packs) puff pastry
- Basil Pesto
- Sundried tomatoes
- Olives
- Sundried Tomatoes
- Crumbed feta
Thaw the puff pasty – defrost in the fridge or according the package instructions. As soon as it is pliable, unroll one of the puff pasty sheets a perpared baking sheet on an ovenproof baking tray.
Spread basil pesto on the puff pastry sheet in the shape of a Christmas Tree – like below 🙂 Mark the top and sides of the trees with a knife.
Carefully place the second sheet puff pastry on top. And mark the bottom and ‘stem’ of the Christmas Tree shape.
Cut the puff pasty in the shape of a Christmas Tree – keep the leftover puff pastry aside, it will be used later. Next step, cut thick even strips in the pastry to make the branches of the tree -and give each branch a twist – so that your tree looks like this:
Add sun-dried tomato slices and olives as decoration for the tree, and use a star-shaped cookie press to make stars of the leftover puff pastry.
Pop in a preheated oven at 200C for 15 – 20 minutes until crisp and golden.
Sprinkle some crumbed feta ‘snow’ over and voila!
Enjoy!
This is so clever. You could also put cinnamon and sugar in it 🙂
Oh yes Laura – I think a sweet version with Nutella and cinnamon will be delicious!
